He is out turning the compost when he feels a sense of dread shiver through the Force. He drops everything and runs to the house, to the children, fear tight in his belly. It's only thirty meters but it feels like it takes an eternity. Part of him argues the feeling. No alarms were triggered, no sounds of approaching spacecraft or transport were heard. They should be alone. But Quin trusts the Force above all; it has never lied to him.
He skids around one of the storage units to the courtyard before their home and finds himself staring down the barrels of three blasters; the fourth pointed at Larin's head as she kneels before a Trandoshan. Varp, the bounty hunters from Taris had found him. Had he lead them here? Did he do a security sweep of his ship after refueling? Curse him for a fool but either way, it was too late. They were here and had to be dealt with. But where was Korto?
He froze and held his hands out, away from his body. In addition to the Trandoshan, there were two humans and a driod. What was their number on Taris? Was it four or five? Was the fifth holding Korto out of sight?
"You have lead a long hunt Jedi but it is over now. Kneel and make no trouble or the little one pays the price."
Quin stepped forward slowly to position himself closer to the house and his daughter. The fact that this also put him in the middle of the bounty hunters was coincidence, right?
Now that he was closer, he could see Larin clearer and she was scared, though she refused to cry in front of her captures. "Be calm, daughter," He called out, not wanting to give the bounty hunters names if they didn't have them. "All will be well."
"All will be well when we deliver you and get our credits!" the Trandoshan sneered.

Date: 2014-03-07 07:45 pm (UTC)The other bounty hunters now started firing but Quin deflected their blasts, sending one or two to seal the door of the storage unit. Two more bounty hunters run around the house and from somewhere on the ridge above them, a sniper was firing as well.
Quin opened himself to the Force and entered a battle meditation, reacting s the Force pulled him, trusting completely in its pull. He dodged, parried, and deflected blasts and blows, all the while leading the hunters away from the storage unit and his children.
All too soon it was proving too challenging, facing four hunters and a sniper. He needed space and another weapon at least. Space he could manage easy enough and so he leap onto the roof of the secondary storage unit, not the one with the kids. This proved to make him an easier target for the sniper and his attention was pulled there, which allowed a grazing shot from below to hit his thigh. Turning and cursing at the shooter, he noticed a lightsaber on the hunter's belt, a trophy from a previous kill most likely.
Anger threatened his calm and he used it to fuel the battle. He force pulled lightsaber and as the weapon touched his finger....
He leaps down to the ground again, impaling the droid in the chest with one lightsaber, while deflecting a blast with the other, striking one of the hunters in the head with the ricochet. His anger burns but instead of taking over, it buoys the calm. He reaches for the droid with the Force and flings to at the sniper, trusting the Force to its aim. Next, a limb flies from each of the remaining hunters, those that still are standing and attacking, and before they hit the ground, he has trust each saber into their hearts.
Barely breathing heavy, Quin deactivates the lightsabers and stalks the Trandoshan, who is trying to crawl away. Quin steps on the torn remains of the blaster hand and leans down as the Trandoshan screams. "How did you find me?"
"What sort of Jedi are you?" The Trandoshan asks, trembling in pain.
"There are no Jedi. Your masters murdered them. Now I will ask again, how did you find me?"

Once they were free, the all hugged until they were sure all was well. Quin knew this was a hard but important lesson for the kids and he was quite sure they would never brag or act hasty with the Force now.
Picking up the blasters and what credits the bounty hunters had on them, Quin told the kids to pack their things while he took care of his and Khaleen's few items. Once the kids were busy unloading on the Wampa's Paw, Quin carried all the bodies to the compost pile and set them aflame.
Finally pulling into the outer atmosphere of their hidden planet, he fired a message drone to find Khaleen at her last know location to let her know what had transpired and set about to find the transmitter aboard his ship. He knew he still needed to find a new vessel but until then, it'd be better not to leave a trail.
